Tuesday, 06 May 2003
The province will bear all costs for site clearance and building of infrastructure works 'to the foot of the investor's project' while own The northern mountainous province of Son La has just announced strong incentives for investors rang\-ing from soft land rents and easy-going procedures to pre\-paratory assistance, a provin\-cial official said. Investors will be exempted from land rents throughout the lifecycles of their projects, while the "land in exchange for infrastructure" policy will also be available, said Ha Hung, chairman of the province. Son La will also develop many key infrastructure projects on its own to make conditions more agreeable to potential inves\-tors, Hung told the Daily about the province's effort to entice investors in big numbers. \ul "The province will bear all costs for site clearance and building of infrastructure works 'to the foot of the investor's project' while own\-ers of prioritized projects will also be given half or all the interest sums on their bank loans," he said. The provincial chairman did not name the specific pri\-oritized projects, but said in\-vestment areas of priority in the province would include tourism, urban development, and hi-tech farming among others.
